About Dr John E. Guenther
Dr John Guenther received his Bachelor of Science (Biology) and Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Guenther joined the Canadian Armed Forces(CAF) in 2010 and worked as a general dentist in Petawawa, Ontario for 2 years followed by 2 years at 1 Canadian Field Hospital. In 2017, he was selected by the CAF for post-graduate training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr Guenther completed his OMFS residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston and successfully challenged the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery specialty board examinations. After graduating from residency in 2021, he was posted to Ottawa where he is currently employed with the CAF as the regional OMFS specialist at the Montfort Hospital. Dr Guenther maintains an active full scope of practice including trauma, orthognathic surgery, pathology/reconstruction, TMD, implant, and dentoalveolar surgery. He enjoys teaching and maintains a faculty license in Texas where he worked as an assistant faculty member teaching OMFS residents at the University of Texas. Dr. Guenther currently works evenings and weekends with Argyle Associates and maintains privileges at TOH, CHEO and Montfort hospitals. When not busy working, Dr Guenther enjoys adventure travel, photography, fishing the Ottawa river and spending time with his family.
