What to Expect During Dental Implants Surgery

Have you lost a tooth unexpectedly and have chosen dental implants to replace your missing teeth? You’re probably curious about the process and procedure for dental implants in Ottawa. At Argyle Associates, we complete over 2000 implants every year. Dental implant surgery is a joint effort between an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and a restorative dentist. One of our surgeons performs the dental extractions, any required bone grafting, and the actual placement of the dental implants. Once you have healed, a restorative dentist completed the dental implant process by inserting the replacement teeth.

We understand that dental implant surgery can be intimidating for many patients. The purpose of this page is to provide you with a brief overview of what you can expect during dental implant surgery. About the Surgery

Dental Implant Surgery

Dental Implant Surgery

A dental implant consists of three parts. The first is a titanium implant that is placed by an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon and fuses with the jawbone. The second is an abutment, which fits over the portion of the implant that protrudes from the gum line. Finally, the crown is placed which is created by a restorative dentist.

Surgery length

Surgery length

Dental implant surgery will take approximately 1 hour. However, it is important to note that the length of time needed for the procedure depends on the number of implants being placed. Our surgeons will be able to provide you with specific information based on your specific case.

“Teeth in a Day” Surgery

“Teeth in a Day” Surgery

Advances in dental technology have made it possible to replace a full arch of teeth in a single procedure. Once all teeth in an arch are removed, 4 to 6 implants are strategically placed. A full bar of teeth is then attached to the implants. Please note that not everyone is eligible for this procedure, during the consultation, our surgeon will determine if you are a candidate after examining your health.
