What to Expect During Dental Implants Surgery

Have you lost a tooth unexpectedly and have chosen dental implants to replace your missing teeth? You’re probably curious about the process and procedure for dental implants in Ottawa. At Argyle Associates, we complete over 2000 implants every year. Dental implant surgery is a joint effort between an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and a restorative dentist. One of our surgeons performs the dental extractions, any required bone grafting, and the actual placement of the dental implants. Once you have healed, a restorative dentist completed the dental implant process by inserting the replacement teeth.

We understand that dental implant surgery can be intimidating for many patients. The purpose of this page is to provide you with a brief overview of what you can expect during dental implant surgery. As with any medical procedure, we are sure you have questions. Do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns related to dental implant surgery.

About Dental Implants Surgery

What is Dental Implants Surgery

Dental Implants Surgery

A dental implant comprises three parts. An Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon places the first part, a titanium implant, which fuses with the jawbone. The second part is an abutment, fitting over the implant's portion protruding from the gum line. Lastly, a restorative dentist creates and places the crown.

Surgery length

Surgery length

Dental implant surgery typically lasts about 1 hour, but the procedure's duration depends on the number of implants required. Our surgeons will offer specific information based on your individual case.

“Teeth in a Day” Surgery

“Teeth in a Day” Surgery

Harnessing cutting-edge dental technology, a comprehensive solution emerges to replace an entire arch of teeth in one procedure. Following the removal of all teeth in an arch, our surgeons strategically place 4 to 6 implants. Transitioning to the final step, a full bar of teeth is securely attached to the implants. Of utmost importance, the eligibility for this procedure varies, and during the consultation, our surgeon will conduct a thorough assessment of your health to determine candidacy.

Accompanying Adult

Accompanying Adult

For a seamless experience, it's crucial to have a trusted, responsible adult accompany you to the appointment. Furthermore, this person should remain in the office throughout your appointment. They will play a key role in assisting you with post-operative instructions and, importantly, will be responsible for driving you home. Equally significant is their role in staying with you until the sedation has completely worn off.
