About Dr. Taylor P McGuire

Dr. Taylor P McGuire received his Bachelor of Science (BSc - Biochemistry) from the University of Ottawa and then travelled to the University of Toronto to complete his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). A one year hospital surgical internship in Toronto then preceded his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Anesthesia residency - also completed at the University of Toronto (OMFS). During residency, Dr. McGuire obtained his Master of Science degree (MSc) in Neurophysiology and lingual nerve repair. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. McGuire successfully challenged and was subsequently awarded board certification as a specialist in OMFS in Canada with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (FRCD(C)).

Following residency, Dr. McGuire was accepted into and completed a prestigious one year intensive, fully accredited fellowship in Facial Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery in Columbus Mississippi and Atlanta Georgia. While there, he successfully challenged his US boards and so was granted specialty status in the United States with the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (ABOMS). Upon completion of this fellowship, Dr. McGuire remained in the US for an additional two years where he worked as an Associate Professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Centre, Memphis, TN. Hired there as a full time academic, he focused on imparting his experience and expertise in facial cosmetic, orthognathic and trauma surgery to the residents-in-training.

Dr. McGuire remains dual-boarded in OMFS in both Canada and the USA. He is an active examiner and content creator for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in OMFS (FRCD(C)) and is a past-president of the Ontario Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (OSOMS).

He is the current Chief and Division Head - department of Dentistry & Maxillofacial surgery with the Ottawa Hospital (TOH), is a staff surgeon with the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and an active associate professor with the department of surgery, University of Ottawa (U of O).

He proudly continues to practice his surgical expertise in all aspects of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery as a senior partner with and co-owner of Argyle Associates in OMFS in Ottawa, CAN. He has specific clinical expertise and interest in outpatient Orthognathic (Jaw) Surgery, facial cosmetic and facial trauma surgery.

When not operating, Dr. McGuire is routinely humbled and simultaneously energized by savage CrossFit workouts, by mountainous literal breath-taking pursuits in far off and remote destinations and by his phenomenal wife and stellar kids.
